For AB, after 4 hours of play, there doesn't seem to be a problem.

For RA, where things are much more up close and personal, there might be problems.

The /report system would need to enforce that only true abuse is allowed - running invinci and running builds isn't. That's what the time limit is there for.

While some would be quick to point out their definition of griefing build, there simply is no such thing. As an example: Enchant based build will be invincible to damage dealers, but will be instant death for hex/anti-caster team.

Regardless of experiences, there is no such thing as wrong build. There are only those against which a player isn't prepared. In random arena - this happens very frequently.

In addition, I also feel that the report system should be limited to game time only (if it isn't already), so that /report only functions during actual match time. This would give people the chance to leave the match without penalty after it has ended, but new one hasn't began yet (it might work this way already - I don't know).

I love this system, so very glad there is an easy in-game mechanism for reporting.

I agree that a menu for reporting with expanded options might be a good idea, it could be located in the /help section. Or maybe just add more options to the /report we already have.

A way to report the scammers and the people who leave without paying for a run. I know "running" is a hot topic, but these people have delivered a service and should be paid for their efforts. Also a way to report ppl selling accounts, and/or whispering me gold selling sites.

GG Anet and keep up the good work.

Question: if you leave an RA match, when it has ended, but before the next one starts so thaty the team still gets another player, do you get dish. points as well?

Or for that sake: if your entire team incl. you is dead, and you map back to save a few secs, is that leaving as well?

I have only seen the /report feature in use at Fort Aspenwood, where it seems to have reduced leechers to few or none! Over a period of a few hours at the Fort, it seemed to me that players were using the system in a responsible way.

Thanks to you Gaile and all at Anet for introducing this new feature. I am sure that with a few tweaks here and there it will permanently improve the gameplay environment of GW. Again, thanks.

i love this new system. i have used the report option a total of 5 times over this whole test period. and the effects of it is starting to pay off. in FA we hardly have any leechers. and when they do leech, everyone reports them and we dont see them for a while. its great, being able to play with a full team is priceless in FA. i also know that there are people out there just trying to test this system by doing things that they know will get them reported. i confronted one such person yesterday. i watch this person start the match, helping the team like you are suppose to. then after a few minutes into the match they decide to go on a leech break for the remainder of the match. i did not report this person at all that time. then on the very next match in FA, i flat-out asked that person, "are you going to contribute this time?" they reply to me saying "what?" i told them "don't what me, you know what i am talking about" i get no reply from them after that. they proceeded to play the match after the start time and does exactly the same thing they did before. playing a few minutes then going on a leech break. this time the player just left the game before it even finished. i did not see that person in any other matches after that. this system really does work. it may need some tweaking in some cases, but its the best thing going right now in my book. its really long overdue. people will have to learn that if you want to be a griefer for any reason whatsoever, then its too easy to step outside into you own explorable area.

i use language that some would consider to be offensive. a lot. sometimes this is directed at a specific player, too. and i should be able to do so, without concern about being reported.

don't like it? that's what the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing chat filter is for, or put me on your ignore list. we are not children, and you are not our parents to spank us or wash our mouths with soap whenever we utter a cuss word.

in conclusion, i move that "offensive language" be removed from the list of reasons to report.

does this system mean there's hope to RA yet?

Anet, you made a miracle.

Shuuda, I know that. But having a retard as a diversion for enemy fire is always better. In PvP such as RA there's no such thing (mostly) as aggro. so the worst that could happen is that they get shot down (did I say worst? i meant best).

Haven't tried the system myself yet (actually i'm in a bit of inactive period now) but it sure sounds promising. something to look forward when i hit the game again.

I haven't personally used the system at all, but you can see the effect it is having on places like AB and RA. Prior to implementing the system, I used to see leavers and leechers every few matches especially when the opposing team was winning by a lot. I decided to take advantage of the double points weekend and the change is impressive. After playing for a few hours, I only saw two leavers the whole time (one left while we were winning, and apologized for leaving, so I think it was legit). On top of that, I have played at least 3 or 4 matches that were some of the most exciting matches I have had since Factions came out. Not having people drop out just because you are 50 points behind means that the match will actually get a chance to play out and won't turn completely lopsided. In one match, we were down 90-100 points which would normally would cause a flood of leavers, but people stayed and we actually won.

I am not saying the system is perfect and I am still wary about how it might be abused or how innocent people might be hurt by it. As best I can tell from playing AB and a little RA, it wasn't being used a lot which is encouraging. However, there needs to be some assurance that actual people are reviewing the reports and actually checking to see if they are legit and that someone isn't abusing the system.

restrict it to leechers and pvp related incidents. For spam and chat abusers just remove the limit on the number of names you can add to the ignore list.

In my opnion the system so far is working as intended. Yesterday I saw a few leechers in where people began reporting near the end of the match. in some cases though they began moving again after being reported and stopped again x.x I've been reported for suppsoed leeching when I was running around so there are some flaws and abuses and such in it.

Today , I've hardly seen any leechers though more leavers in AB. Suppose it's there own fault when they get dishonour points.

It's nice to see that it's working so far and am looking forward, as well as curious on the future versions

I have played AB most all weekend. Friday and early Saturday morning I saw 7 leechers reported. From 12pm to midnite Saturday I only saw one report. All day Saturday there was complaints of lag and myself and a few others got booted during matches, but I didn't see any of us getting reported. All of the reports I witnessed were characters who just stood at the zone in area and never moved.

Short version, from the limited experience I have had with it so far I would say it is working well and people are acting responsibly with it.

I have played RA the entire day, and I must say, things have increased so much!

Random RA stats

-about 60 games played
-Gained 5 glad points
-0 leavers at beginning of battle, even if there wasn't a monk on the team
-Just 1 leaver leaving battle because it seemed like a loss
-0 leachers
-0 mentions of the word noob
-0 bad words used by anyone
-0 reports used

GG Anet, thank you!

It works well. Everytime I ABed there were fewer and fewer leechers. I expect the same in RA/TA, Fort Aspenwood, and Jade Quarry.

The system is great. The first few hours there we're some leecher. But after the everyone reports them, everything goes fine. I feel pitty for the leavers who don't know about the system yet. Put it in the loginscreen perhaps?

Edit:Make a /unreport command. Somebody was really laggy and I thought he was a leecher.

Seems like it could get alot of use /abuse at first but im sure it will die down once all the bad people are reported.
I've had to use it once so far because some fool was private messaging me about buying gold, the cheek of some people.

So far i would agree it's a great idea, And seems to be working well.

The /Report system gets a resounding NO from me.

Reason: The vast majority of people are extremely prejudiced. They have their own notions on what should and should not be allowed... absolutely ZERO consideration for how others (even those they personally don't like) may choose to play for their own entertainment..... and will abuse a system like this toward those ends.
One alone isn't a problem.... but when you get a lot of people agreeing on the same ridiculous bias (as will often happen).... then it tends to get decided simply by weight of the majority. They impose their will on any would-be individuals who might not be like them... and destroy the game for them.

What we end up with is mob rule.... whereby the idiots with the most similarly idiotic friends control what does and does not happen in game... Leaving such power in the hands of children is ridiculous... and NO... it will not "sort itself out over time".... it will only end up with those same idiotic children in charge... and anyone with even a slightly contrary opinion on how things should be getting permabanned.

Ditch the report system.
Leave the leechers and the griefers to their business. Their fun will also make them enemies.... and if that bothers them then they will change their attitude. If it doesn't bother them.... then so what? Work around them. The majority of people don't do that, and if anything it just adds an unpredictable element to the game to make it more interesting. And honestly, people should be allowed to do such things, much as any given individual should be allowed to oppose them on their own terms.
The people screaming for the game to be policed for them are those who are too weak to deal with life as it comes and take matters into their own hands if necessary.

I mean... do I go crying to all and sundry because I live in a city where things DO get stolen and people DO get killed? Of course not. Honestly... I don't care. I make my own security measures to ensure I don't fall victim to such things... much as I'd expect anyone else to do, rather than whine to the police about it. I value my freedom more than my life or my material property.

Communism doesn't work.
Don't do it.

Seriously.

Gaile, you need to expand it to work for Whispers. Just the other day, I cleared my Ignore list (because 10 is way too small of a number) and within 20 minutes I get spammed "B1TCH B1TCH B1TCH B1TCH B1TCH NOOB NOOB NOOB U SUCK!!!!!!!! PVE SSCRUB" I wanted to report this guy, but yet I couldn't.

Thank you all for continuing this debate. Though this is a new feature, it should be discussed as time goes by. Gaile Gray and Andrew, thank you for your additional information and assurances.

Quote:
It's a context issue.

And a game is not the right context for some topics - particularly those completely outside the scope of that game.

If you don't have time to discuss the election or the inner workings of criminal law or the Pope or the war in wherever or you and your significant other's intimate activities elsewhere, that does not make this game the proper forum for it. Make the time for discussing those issues in the places where their discussion is proper.
While the game may be out of context, the people are not. Often, someone might begin with an offhand comment and it starts into a socially acceptable conversation, despite the game not being the proper format for such a discussion. I personally would not like to see such a thing punished because a person that happened to catch a few words of it became offended. That is one of my primary concerns.
